Careers Education at The Lighthouse

At The Lighthouse we understand the importance of good quality Independent Careers Advice and Guidance. We have a stable careers programme that addresses the individual needs of our pupils, linking the curriculum to careers and providing encounters with employers, experience of  workplaces, training providers and further and higher education. We use a range of tools to help us benchmark, manage, track and report on our Careers Programme. A copy of our Careers Programme Review can be found below.

The Lighthouse works closely with Beacon East, an experienced team of highly trained and passionate specialists, who provided 1:1 bespoke personal ICAG to our young people. Their understanding of the specific needs of our students, alongside their comprehensive knowledge of local provision ensures that our young people leave The Lighthouse ready to take on the challenges of further education, training or employment.

Policy and Review

Careers Education at The Lighthouse is reviewed annually and we welcome the input of our pupils, their carers/parents and other stakeholders as part of that review.

Curriculum Plans

Careers Education is delivered through our PSHE programme.  The programme builds on existing knowledge to ensure that pupils receive the right education, support and advice, at the right time. The curriculum is evaluated regularly and changed according to our pupils' needs.  Below are the curriculum plans for the academic year 24/25
